So. I promised to update with the asshattery that was last month.
…Crazy Wayne’s World flashback..
December 12th I had my tonsils out. I don’t much remember what happened before this but suffice to say it started around that time. Because I remember I found out and was frustrated I couldn’t yell. And I have proof in Naomi’s blog. So my emails had been bouncing but I never thought to check the site. Until I did. And it wasn’t there. 12/12/07.
Fast forward the the Saturday before Christmas. Emails to wwm.net went unanswered. I was told by a former employee that the company owner decided that he wouldn’t be doing this anymore. Meanwhile, I had just paid in October for another full year of service. Katfolio, which took me almost a year and a half to come up with, was mine for that year at least! And I wanted it back.
Another thing that sucked was that, since wwm.net was so cheap (you get what you pay for…), I had referred a lot of my friends to host there. This turned out to be a good thing, because not only did one of them host there, but she tracked down how to get in contact with the people who sold the server space and domains to wwm.net to begin with, enom.
So the Saturday before Christmas, I called enom. They said “alright, sounds good. Call Wednesday and we will get your EPP code.
I called. Wednesday. “Oh no. We can’t give that to you. You have to go through TOS”
Contacted TOS. “Oh. No. Enom has to give that to you.” (this is a week or so later)
Contacted Enom. Got my favorite person, Daniel. Daniel tried everything he could to get me my domain back. Apparently, the … nice gentleman… who ran wwm.net registered all of the domains in his name, not ours. So he was the legal owner. Despite my purchase of the domain.
So that made things difficult. And it took a week for Daniel to be able to resolve THAT. So now it’s… January 10th. Dan, my man, sends me the EPP code. He can only send it to my University of Cincinnati account, because that’s what I signed up under.
The University of Cincinnati doesn’t like these kinds of generated emails.
So they blocked it.
January 16th, I called (yes, emails have taken that long before) and got Daniel to send it twice (for some reason this pushes at least one of them through). And I got my EPP code.
Meanwhile, I’ve been paying for service at Eleven2 for a month. Because I was worried their awesome deal would go away. And who thought this would take A MONTH? I sent them my EPP code and they said that it would take a week. Another. Week. Fortunately they have an IM. So I pestered them. And my site went live again January 18th.
Beautiful.
